A different setting from an Old City hotel
Lanna Rice Barn Homestay is at 242/2 Moo 1, Nong Phueng, Saraphi, outside Chiang Mai’s Old City. Traditional Lanna rice-barn architecture and gardens are central to the proposition. An owner-authored Airbnb description presents a one-bedroom rice-barn unit, orchard surroundings, Northern Thai food and access to the Wiang Kum Kam area.
That individual unit description should not be applied to every room. Establish the actual lodge layout, steps and bathroom arrangement before booking. The more domestic, traditional setting may be a reason to choose the property, but it also makes a clear floor plan more valuable than a broad homestay label.
Guests describe peace and practical arrangements
Valentin A’s December 2025 Tripadvisor account praised attentive staff, a generous and varied breakfast, and peace. Jowild1, visiting in March 2025, liked an en-suite lodge, pool and food, but described a restaurant closing at 8.30pm then, no bar, preordered breakfast and cleaning that needed requesting. Those are dated operational details, not current policies.
Hicksie121’s August 2019 family account described a house using rooms 4 and 5, with a shared open living area and fans, while the bedrooms had air conditioning. The guest found a car helpful. That particular family setup should be checked against the unit offered today.

Agree the daily routine before arrival
Confirm meal availability and cleaning arrangements for the stay, and decide how journeys into town will work. Lanna Rice Barn is most persuasive for travellers who actively want a traditional lodge setting and time in the grounds. The current unit’s layout and transport plan should carry as much weight as the architecture.
